the short version...
Born in 2002 from the ashes of several other projects, Absolute Pistol delivers funky rock mixed with soulful, jazz-infused booty shakin' goodness, sprinkled with a hint of silly weirdness. The original lineup featured Lindsey Noble on vocals, principal songwriter Matt Baccari on rhythm guitar, Ryan Domingue on lead guitar, Noah Sherline on bass, and Josh Broussard on drums. The band has enjoyed a relatively small, though dedicated following.
Absolute Pistol's self-produced, self-recorded debut album, The Absolute Pistol Show, was released in December 2003, a week after they won a Battle of the Bands contest in Houston. The Battle of the Bands prize was cash and recording time, which the band used to record its as-yet-unreleased follow up album. The unreleased album contains re-recorded versions of many of the songs from the first album, alongside several new tunes. Many of these recordings will be presented on this website for the first time.
In mid-2005, Baccari, Noble, and Domingue moved to Phoenix and spent the rest of the year reforming Absolute Pistol. The band was successfully reformed, with Andrew Bailey and Tom joining in on bass and drums, respectively, but unfortunate circumstances lead to Baccari and Noble moving back to Houston in early 2006 after only one Phoenix show.
Meanwhile, Broussard began playing with Paris Green, a very successful Houston band that was, at the time, beginning to gain national exposure. Over the next few years, he would split his time between his full-time gig with Paris Green and the occasional Absolute Pistol show.
Upon returning to Houston, Absolute Pistol continued to play gigs, with Domingue flying in from Phoenix for each show; this did not turn out to be a sustainable idea. With Domingue unable to move back to Houston, the decision was made to carry on without him.
But all was not lost! Enter: Dan. Dan began playing guitar and keyboards with Absolute Pistol in late 2007, and was featured on the epic Whiskey Nights recording. Since bringing Dan on board, Absolute Pistol has played several shows.
While no one really knows what the future may hold, the future is bright for this blah blah blah...
